The BIG MOVE

So Doug and I are starting a new radio station! Our bosses at Woodward literally asked us to help launch a new station! The best part of this is that we get to work in the same building, and we have the same boss (Dayton Kane.) We literally will move from the KISS FM studio to the studio right next door! It is Eight Steps from my old chair to my new chair!

The thing is 95.9 KISS FM has been the best job Doug and I have EVER had! One time our boss asked us to write down Five things we love about our job and Five things we hate...I literally couldn't come up with one thing I didn't like about it. We LOVE KISS FM and always will!!!!! Eight years of a lot of great memories! The KISS FM listeners are so great! So fun and so supportive!

This new job is a huge adventure! It is never easy to start over! BUT the good news is it feels like so many listeners are excited about it! I have had people tell me we will help you get to number ONE! I love that! You guys know us too well! We are really sweet and nice people but we are very competitive!

I have been listening to KZ 104.3 online at home since it launched and I have to tell you I LOVE IT! The music is so much fun! I love that there isn't a station like it in this area. It is so upbeat and has TONS of energy! The music brings me back to some really fun times in my life! In fact I have been reconnecting with friends from High School like crazy! Thanks to Facebook! This good be good and bad...more on this when we get on the air! I feel a topic coming on!

I hope you will come along with us on this big adventure! Starting over is scary, change is hard, but in the end it is good to push yourself! It is good to step out on a limb where you are not comfortable at all! It helps you to see the world in a different light! Makes you think and that is a GOOD THING!

Here is to 2013 with a new big adventure! Can't wait to see what we can do with this new radio station!

Weekend away for me...

It is always so hard as a mom to take a weekend away! BUT I am doing it this weekend. Most of you know I am super into xc skiing! I train for the Birkie every year and I really love it! I am heading up north to find some snow with friends. The kids always hate it when I leave but then when I get back they have GREAT Dad stories. Sometimes I think it is actually really good for the three of them to have time without me. They can really depend on Doug and they can do all the fun crazy things Doug likes to do! They really get to know him better and he gets to know the kids.He can do dishes...make meals and take care of the crazy DOG! I think he might just appreciate me more when I get home.

They will live without me for two days!!! Plus I am sure we will get lots of great stories from Doug on the radio MONDAY!

Best Graduation Speech EVER...You are NOT that special!

Wellesley High English teacher David McCullough Jr. told graduates "You are not special. You are not exceptional," quoting empirical evidence:

"Across the country no fewer than 3.2 million seniors are graduating about now from more than 37,000 high schools. That's 37,000 valedictorians ... 37,000 class presidents ... 92,000 harmonizing altos ... 340,000 swaggering jocks ... 2,185,967 pairs of Uggs," he said in the speech published in the Boston Herald.

He added: "Even if you're one in a million, on a planet of 6.8 billion that means there are nearly 7,000 people just like you."
McCullough makes a statement on parents who overdo it in a modern society focused on collecting achievements. "You've been pampered, cosseted, doted upon, helmeted, bubble wrapped ... feted and fawned over and called sweetie pie." But he adds in a video on Wellesley Channel TV YouTube page, "You see, if everyone is special, then no one is. If everyone gets a trophy, trophies become meaningless. ... We have of late, we Americans, to our detriment, come to love accolades more than genuine achievement."
McCullough's address does push students to recognize real achievement: "The fulfilling life, the distinctive life, the relevant life is an achievement," and he encourages graduates "to do whatever you do for no reason other than you love it and believe in its importance."

Mother's Day

Here is the best Mother's Day present I have ever been given! I begged the kids to buy me these wrought iron planter boxes for our front window. I found them at Schmalz on KK in Darboy! They have the greatest flowers, and planters!!!! Cole and Doug hung them up and Emma and I planted the flowers!!! I can't wait to see how these look in a month or so when all the color starts popping out of them!

Tebow changed the name of his dog...

Ok so I am mad at this guy for for changing his dog's name from Bronco, to Bronx...I am sure you can figure out why he did it! BUT what the heck? How do you just change a dogs name???

Doug and I are talking about the cover of this month's Time Magazine on our show today! It is all about extreme parenting! How parents are not learning to let go!!! This article really shocked me. One woman in the article actually said she just couldn't wean her daughter it was just too hard!!! So she breast fed until she was SEVEN years old! WOW!

I am not even sure what to say about this! I need to think about it a little bit!

She thinks she is so slow! I think running slow is great! You get to see more! I run slow. It never stopped me. I have friends who are WAY faster than me...heck I have two brothers that could run circles around me!!! I also know people who are slower...and I admire them for getting out there and doing it!

Just try! Running is still running and it takes you to some really cool places! Don't let slow be an excuse to not try!

Honestly, what is it that holds you back? Why can't you get up and get moving? Your excuse is invalid! I started Ironman on the beach with a guy who had no legs! He did the same Ironman I did! I think he even beat me! He never let having NO legs stop him!!!!!

50 Shades of HOLY COW!

Honestly, I am not sure what to say about this book. I am totally addicted to this series! I am on book three.  Some women behind me at a baseball game were talking about how they are reading this book next for BOOK CLUB! Holy COW! I can not imagine sitting around talking about this one!!! These women have NO clue what they got themselves into! The one woman says, "I heard it is very PG-13." HELLO!!!!! IT is so Rated X! I have NO idea how they will be able to sit around and talk about this book!!!!  A great friend of mine read it and said all I know is I don't want my husband to read this because I don't want him getting an ideas! I am still laughing so hard about that!!!! Too funny!

Chicago with the kids!

I needed to go to Chicago to pick up one of my best friends EVER, Lisa. She is my best bud from High School! So, I took the kids and we spent the day downtown! We had a TOTAL blast!

The craziest part was Cole drove us down there! He has his temps and he wanted to drive SOOOOO bad! He did GREAT!!! Chicago traffic and all!

We took the train downtown and that was a wild fun experience!! Emma LOVED the train!

We even went to Sprinkles Cup cakes!! YUM! They are pretty good but $4 each!

We shopped, walked, ate and really enjoyed each other so much!

Now we will spend the week with Lisa...she is always a ton of fun to have around!

Biggest Loser UPDATE

Okay, what I was saying is chocolate, sweets of any kind, is like an addiction, once you start you can't stop. Myself, I have cut it all out, moderation is not possible at this time in the losing weight game. There are 27 days left in the competition it has given me the motivation to lose the weight, to get to where I want to be. Can I continue when it is done? I know I can. when I signed up for this contest I told you I was tired of being invisible. Well now the vale of invisibility is coming down and I am feeling so much better about myself I don't want it to end, I don't want to go back to where I was. All I can say is thank you. MEXICO was GREAT!

We had an absolute blast in Mexico! The listeners who came with us were so much fun! We body surfed in the Gulf of Mexico, laid by the pool, ran in the pouring rain, ate TONS of food, saw a sting ray snorkeling, ATV'ed through the jungle and even drove speed boats faster than I think we should have!!! It was great from the first day to the last!!!

Where will we go next year? I hope you can come next year! It is the BEST week of the year!
